How to create a view for indico events (feeds)

Hello,

I would like to create a view for indico events (feeds) .
I manage to do it for my previous web site in Drupal7 www.cern.ch/isop image

but now I would like to make the same think for the new web site in Drupal 8 https://test-isoldeeasystart.web.cern.ch/ as the importation as not worked.

I used the template easystart template for the new web site.

I tried to follow the procedure described here

but without success.

I created Creating a new view of indico events as descibed and a Indico Feed.
Content → Feeds → +Add Feed → Indico Feed
but each time I tried, I got the message ’ Failed importing 23 Indico Events.’ with a error message than I have to redo my mapping
https://test-isoldeeasystart.web.cern.ch/admin/structure/feeds/manage/indico/mapping

Any idea? any step by step procedure anywhere?

Thank you in advance

Simon

Dear Simon,

The easy start website comes with the Indico feeds preconfigured and should work fine out of the box.

The problem is that you removed some of the mappings in here https://test-isoldeeasystart.web.cern.ch/admin/structure/feeds/manage/indico/mapping

The Indico Event content type requires all these mappings and some of its fields are mandatory like the iCal field that gave you the mapping error.

I edited the Indico Event content type so this field is not required anymore and the import worked fine pulling all the events from your categories.

Please avoid tampering with the mappings. Even if you didn’t needed the fields it was not necessary to remove them. You could hide them in the Manage display of the content type.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Hello Sotirios,

It was not volunteer. Many thanks. I can see that the feed is working.
Thank you again
Now I will try to put the new block at the right place.

See u

Hello,

Still me - I got trouble with my block view .
1/ I don’t understand why the same indico event is displayed 2 times
2/Where can I change the style? I would like to display like for my previous web site in Drupal 7

Many thanks for the help

Simon

Hello Simon,

I just checked the view:

  1. Double rendering seems to be resolved
  2. Can you be more specific regarding what kind of styles you want to change? In general the theme has changed from D7 to D8
2.1 I noticed that you have deliberately chosen to render the items bold in the view settings so obviously you want them to be bold.
2.2 If you refer to the block shadow, you can apply this to both your view blocks and custom block by applying the class shadow-block to your block. If you need more details on how to do that let me know.

Konstantinos

Hello Konstantinos

Thank you for your help. I didn’t receive notifification in my outlook! still thing that I have to set.
No, I have not deliberately chosen to render the items bold in the view settings… where is it? please…
I will follow at end of april “Drupal 8 for non-Developers (Part 2): Site Building and Editing”… so I don’t know what it is block shadow.
I would like that my block displaying indico Event to be the more similar as it was in my prevouis website in Drupal 7 (my screenshot above).
Where is this block shadow.?

Thank you

Cheers

Hello there Simon,

I am answering your requests inline:

  1. Visit your view /admin/structure/views/view/indico_events_block_with_details/edit/block_feed_4
  2. Click on Content: Title field
  3. As you can see in the screenshot below, the selected style is STRONG. If you remove it, it will not appear bold

For that please read this documentation on how to add a shadow around your block.

Konstantinos

Hello Konstantinos,

Thank you for your help.
I thought to have screen everything, and I missed the setting where the title was put in strong.

I apologize to bother you again, I added a shadow around my block… but if I understand correctly , to customize the styling of this block by adding CSS classes. I have to define the block shadow… where I can do it?
Maybe it is not possible to do what I want, it is the reason I made a screenshot…
I would like to have a Title for the view (small as it was), I would like to align the feed display with the other view, and I would like to have a narrow in the lower part of the block to see other indico events…

if it is not so obviously, I will create a dedicate page.

Thank you for your support.

Cheers

Hello there Simon,

Apparently this is a theming bug, so its not your configuration that causes it.

I created a theming issue so that it will be resolved in the next patch version of the theme. I would suggest to leave it as is and wait for the fix.

I will investigate why it does not appear and answer as soon as I find out.

Konstantinos

Hello again Simon.

I applied a fix for your issue to ameliorate the theme and will be deployed in version 2.6.4 of the CERN Theme.

After the fix, the custom blocks and views will be displayed like in the following image (its a test site the I cloned from yours)

Konstantinos

maganifique, Thank you

Hi

Is it possible to restore the Indico feeds preconfigured? because, now I not allowed to add new indico feed

I apologize for the inconvenience

Cheers

Simon

Hi

I can try to restore it for you but you will lose any configuration that you have made so far regarding the Indico feeds and you will need to create again the blocks, views etc. related to them.

Let me know if you want me to proceed.

Yes, yes. please do it.

Thank you in advance

Simon

It should be ok now. Give it a try.

Don’t forget to set your API and Secret key again in Indico feed’s setp page.

Thank you. Now it is better.
Thank you. See u

Simon

Hello,

When will be deployed the version 2.6.4 of the CERN Theme, because the alignment of the feed display with the other view, is still not done.

Thank you

Cheers

Hello Simon,

I published the version yesterday so as far as I know it should be deployed this week. The deployment is done by the drupal infrastructure team so they know the exact date.

The updates are announced in the Announcements topic of the forum and also you will get an email when your website will receive the updates. What I advise you to do is to subscribe to the Announcements topic of the forum (using the bell next to "New Topic) to receive an email whenever there is a new announcement.

Konstantinos

Your Drupal 8 hosted site: http://isoldeop.web.cern.ch has been upgraded to 8.8.6.
